Julia Fischer is awarded the Cultural Honorary Prize of the City of Munich. The prize, endowed with 10,000 euros, is awarded annually to a personality of "international charisma with close ties to Munich" for her cultural or scientific achievements. "Julia Fischer is an internationally prominent musician, but at the same time very attached to her hometown, who consciously, critically and openly faces all current challenges and developments," reads the jury's statement.
"It was with great pleasure that I learned I had been awarded the Culture Prize of the City of Munich. To be rewarded in my hometown is a special honor for me. I will donate the prize money to my association, Kindersinfoniker e. V., so that we can continue our projects: the music camps at Lake Starnberg and the concerts of the Kindersinfoniker", Julia Fischer is pleased to say.
